The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for activities related to the operation and production of goods while achieving delivery, quality, and cost targets. Is also responsible for developing manufacturing plans that include quantities, costs, and time with the aim of maximizing production capacity.
Essential Elements
• Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production, performance, and quality standards are consistently met
• Helps translate customer requirements into new and improved manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and the profitable manufacturing of company products
• Develops operations-related budgets, policies, and procedures
• Develops, maintains and communicates detailed plans, and measures performance against them
• Manages internal resources and coordinates with third-party services, including contract manufacturers, with the aim of maximizing production capacity
• Oversees activities of material and inventory control. Develops, implements, and maintains material control systems. Ensures materials are ordered and in stock to meet company accounting requirements, while maintaining acceptable inventory levels.
• Assists COO with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology
• Recognizes equipment, procedural, and product problems; troubleshoots errors in order to achieve optimum production levels
• Develops best practices to improve operational efficiency
• Selects, mentors, provides technical expertise, tasking, training, and oversight to manufacturing facility team members ensuring the efficient operation of the function
• Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested
• Requires at least ten years of directly related experience in industrial management with extensive knowledge of expense control and goods production
